Congress to flag Sweepers Colony issue in Meghalaya Assembly

SHILLONG: The Opposition Congress will raise the issue of Sweepers Colony in the upcoming Autumn session of Meghalaya Assembly scheduled to begin from September 21 next.

Congress spokesperson, HM Shangpliang said that the Opposition was going to raise the matter very strongly since the State Government had not been able to resolve the issue till now. ‘

“ We recently had a CLP meeting, where we decided to take up issues relating to the problems and concerns of the people in the Asdembly session,” he said.

The party would also raise the  issue of farmers as the community  was facing a lot of problem,  besides the issue of law anf order.

In addition, the Congress  is also set to raise the issue of SSA school teachers whose salarirs have not been paid till now. The  issue of traffic congestion in the city will also be taken up in the short session.

The autumn session of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will commence from September 21 and would continue  till September 27

Government business has been allotted for September 21, 25 and 27, while private members’ business has been slated for September 24 and 26, respectively.
