SHILLONG: In one of their biggest catches in Shillong city, Customs sleuths on Tuesday recovered one kilogram of heroin along with approximately 20,000 tablets of the drug Methamphetamine (or meth) besides apprehending three people in this connection.

The heroin which has been recovered is 99.9 per cent pure and the total value of the seized item is around Rs 3 crore in the international market.
Police arrested the three persons after getting Intelligence inputs.
According to officials, the seized drugs were meant to be supplied in Shillong itself.
The Customs officials have also recovered a .9 mm Beretta gun from their possession.   The apprehended persons, whose identities were not revealed, would be handed over to police and they would be booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and the Arms Act.
The seized items were brought through the Myanmar-Dimapur-Guwahati route to Shillong.
Customs officials are interrogating the accused persons to get details about the suppliers of drugs in Shillong.
Reacting to a query about the routes, Kharkongor said the peddlers have several routes from which the drugs are supplied and Customs officials often keep a tab on them.
