SHILLONG: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was greeted with black flags and anti Assam slogans during his visit to the IIM Shillong on Friday morning.

KSU activists displayed black flags, placards and banners and chanted slogans as soon as the VIP convoy reached the gates of the IIM Shillong.

KSU general secretary Auguster Jyrwa said, “We wanted to register our protest as Assam is still encroaching in our land despite the two states having decided to maintain status quo,” the visiting Chief Minister added.

Meanwhile, Tarun Gogoi, while speaking to media persons after the function, reiterated that Assam is committed to solving boundary disputes with all its neighbouring states including Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.

“We want to live in peace as good neighbours not only with Meghalaya but with all the other neighbouring states,” he said.

When asked for a timeline by which the disputes would be solved, he said that it was impossible for him to answer the question, but added that the relationship between the two states should not be affected at any cost.
