Guwahati Food Awards 2018 Winners Announced

GUWAHATI: Over 300 people gathered to pay tribute to 33 Guwahati Food Awards winners of 2018. At the Vivanta by Taj, participating restaurant owners, numerous chefs and dignitaries united to celebrate the exceptional food crafters. The awards are an initiative aimed at recognizing the best in the city’s food & beverage industry. The contest comprised of 73 participants that included various restaurants, cafes, lounge bars, bakeries, catering service providers and fast food eateries amongst others, according to a Press Communique.

The 33 winners rose to the top amongst 157 entries on the basis of pre-determined criteria set by the jury panel which included Chef Faruk Ahmed – winner of GFA Chef of the Year 2016, Dr. Geeta Dutta, an ethnic food enthusiast and Aabhishek Bedi Varma, a former chef of Taj Group of Hotels, headed by renowned food critic and author of Times Food Guide, Mr. Suresh Hinduja. The awards night had as its chief guest, Kunal Vijaykar, popular actor, author and television host of the show The Foodie. A record number of over 2,00,000 people voted for their favourite restaurants through the Guwahati Food Awards website and mobile app.

Rang De Basanti Urban Dhaba won the most coveted Restaurant of the Year award, while Ziya this year again picked up the award for the ‘Best Restaurant for European Cuisine (Continental). The award for Best Restaurant for Assamese Cuisine went to Paradise. The list of rest of the winners is as follows:
