TURA: East Garo Hills police have arrested two persons in connection with the abduction of a Nokma’s kin from Bangong Gittinggre village of the same district on December 10.
Janseng N Sangma (29), son in-law of the Nokma of Bangong Singwegre was abducted from his house at around 8 pm on the night of December 10, by masked miscreants numbering 4-5. The miscreants wielding daggers and kukris barged into his house, dragged him out and forcefully took him away. Soon after the incident, Sangma’s wife received a text message instructing her to pay a ransom of Rs 50 lakhs for his release.
A police team was rushed to the spot and search conducted in the nearby jungles which resulted in the arrest of Sengnang M Marak (18), son of Gongjan M Sangma and Robi M Marak (19), son of Singniram N Sangma. Both the suspects hailed from Rongap Mikgilsimgre village under Songsak police station.
“Our team got information that the kidnappers had moved to Khera area and a search was conducted in the nearby jungles. Another search party was deployed early the next morning which resulted in the arrest of the two persons,” East Garo Hills SP in-charge, R T G Momin said.
According to Momin the names of the other accomplices have also been revealed by the two accused and search operation is underway to arrest them and rescue the victim.
