SHILLONG: Several members of the Association of Qualified Grade-IV-2011, East Khasi Hills District started indefinite hunger strike at the football ground, Jingkieng Nongthymmai on Tuesday.
Talking to newsmen, the general secretary of the Association Paskha Lyngdoh Nonglait said that they had to resume their agitation demanding extension of validity of the merit list. According to her, only 20 more qualified candidates out of the total 331 who found place in the merit list are yet to get appointment.
“All the remaining candidates are women,” she said adding that they will continue with their hunger strike until the government extends validity of the merit list which expires on January 29.
