Megha Health Insurance Scheme launched

SHILLONG: Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek on Monday kicked-off the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) enrolment in Golf Links.

Speaking on the occasion, Hek, who is also the local MLA, urged people to enroll themselves to avail the scheme under which insurance can be claimed for hospitalization at any empanelled MHIS hospital in the State and outside.

The scheme is available for all residents of Meghalaya except State and Central government employees.

The Scheme will have coverage to the tune of Rs 1,60,000 per household at a nominal registration fee of Rs 31 per family.

The Policy period will commence from May 1, 2013 till 30th April 2014 and will be renewed thereafter.
